Edo 2020: Esan stands still as Ize-Iyamu’s campaign trail hits Irrua

The people of Irrua, Esan land, turned up in their thousands to pledge their support and votes to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Edo Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, when the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, retired Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe returned home with the SIMPLE agenda message of the candidate.

The Ojirrua of Irrua Land, Alhaji William O Momodu, receiving the Major Cecil Esekhaigbe, attributed his emergence as the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council for the election to his contributions to the development of his Kingdom and other parts of Esan land and urged him to sustain the efforts.

Alhaji Momodu also praised the former National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for his uncommon passion to partner with traditional institutions as Governor and his outstanding performance as National Chairman.

He prayed that the ancestors and God almighty grant them their heart desires at the polls slated for the 19th of September.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said his visit to the palace felt like a homecoming after a long journey, while also lamenting the lack of new projects, stating that he only saw the projects he brought to the community as Governor.

He urged the people of Esan land to punish Obaseki with their votes for neglecting the region by electing Pastor Ize-Iyamu whose SIMPLE agenda manifesto, according to the former Governor, contains practical plans and programs that will move Esan and the rest of Edo State forward.

On his part, the DG, Retired Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe said he was in the palace to obtain royal blessings in recognition of the crucial importance of the traditional institution, unlike the incumbent Governor and his party who hold scant regard for traditional institutions and adopt an elitist approach to governance which alienates the majority of the people and retards growth and development.

Prayers were offered for the APC leaders and their teeming supporters at the palace for a safe, peaceful, and victorious election. Ok
